A CULTURAL VORTEX
A high-rise that runs two lives.
Set in an isolated urban dead zone flanked by highways, The Core turns the utilitarian service core into a public spine, connecting a dormant pocket back to the city.
PPVC construction transforms the NYCHA model into market-rate housing, splitting public (Brooklyn-facing nightlife) from private (Manhattan-facing amenities).
SECTION
Day on, night in the Core.
The section reads as a single vertical promenade: a stacked sequence of public rooms lit warm by day and charged by the nightlife cores after dark. Drag the handle to run the clock forward.
DayNightDAY / NIGHT
The same rooms swap register with the clock. A daylit sky-piazza for residents becomes, floors up and hours later, a red vertical-nightlife bar for the city.
ACTIVATING THE GROUND
A porous, sorting ground floor.
The ground is cut and terraced to sort residents, children, and nightlife into their own routes, wayfinding to venue, library, apartments, and bars: a rooftop garden above, water and shade under the podium below.
